OYSTER 885-05 BACCHUS - PRICE ON APPLICATION
Bacchus, hull #5 from the iconic Oyster 885 series is a proven Bluewater cruiser with serious capabilities and heralds from a class that has touched every aspect of yachting from racing, high latitude exploring, successful charter to circumnavigation. A superyacht within an easy-to-manage 90ft, which allows an owner and crew to stay out of the costly restrictions of class and yearly surveys.
Bacchus has a functional and luxurious accommodation layout, which boasts four beautifully appointed double guest cabins, all en suite. With separate crew accommodation for four and boasting a separate crew mess, she provides accommodation more regularly seen in much larger yachts. Her interior styling is warm and light with Maple in a satin finish, enhanced with Walnut sole boards in gloss. A true home-from-home feel.
With a double-headed Hall Spars Carbon mast and Hydraulic Oceanfurl in-boom mainsail furling, Bacchus exudes serious cruising ability without the need of an army of crew. Cared for by the same crew since launch and under the ownership of an experienced yachtsman, Bacchus has never been left wanting and the care and attention to detail is evident throughout.

CONSTRUCTION
HULL NUMBER
Oyster 885.05.
HULL CONSTRUCTION
Moulded in GRP from female moulds, built under Oyster Design and Technical Office’s close supervision. Hull and deck structures are hand laminated to Oyster specifications under controlled conditions.
The GRP layup specification is calculated to meet and exceed Det Norske Veritas (DNV) - High Speed and Light Craft Rule with bulkheads made of marine ply and foam-core composites.
Special NPG gelcoat, laminated using a combination of vinylester and polyester resins. The laminate material comprises of a combination of E-glass, Kevlar and carbon fibre specially designed for the yacht by the Oyster Design Team’s own structural engineers. This custom laminate offers significant weight savings, strength, and stiffness advantages.
Topside laminate above the waterline incorporates a high tech, foam-cored structure in an E-glass/carbon for additional strength, stiffness and insulation, that is applied using a vacuum bagging technique.
Below the waterline, the hull features a monolithic (single-skin) composite laminate with an Aramid/Kevlar layer reinforced with a matrix of stringers and floors, combined with BS1088 standard marine ply and composite cored structural bulkheads.
Additional reinforcements are included in the way of the keel recess, the keel longitudinals, mast bulkhead, P-bracket, forestay, and hull stringers.
Limber holes and/or tubes are installed at appropriate points. Stringers, bulkhead-landings and floors are formed over a non-structural inert polyurethane foam.
Bacchus has been upgraded in-line with our current build 885 Lloyd’s approved hulls.
HULL FINISH
Awlgrip ‘Flag Blue’ hull with Awlcraft ‘Cordovan Gold’ cove line and Awlgrip ‘Snow White’ boot top lines. The ‘Flag Blue’ is covered with Awlcraft ‘Clear’ top coat.
Hull faired and re-coated (Winter 2022).
DECK CONSTRUCTION
Moulded in GRP with foam-cored structure for strength and insulation.
In load-bearing areas the core is replaced with plywood for additional strength, and all load-bearing fittings have backing plates.
DECK FINISH
Weather deck, cockpit seats and sole areas finished with quarter-sawn teak planking and no visible fastenings.
The deck edge incorporates a bulwark, which facilitates relatively flat side decks whilst providing a good foothold when working the yacht in a seaway. The top of this bulwark has a clean GRP finish, giving a modern and stylish ‘rolled’ edge, enhancing the yacht’s visual appearance with a graceful sheer line.
Stanchions and cleats are mounted on the bulwark. Internal scupper drains are installed along the deck edge, preventing topsides from staining when decks are washed down.
Fuel and water filler fittings are positioned on the cap rail, thus keeping the teak decked area clean and clutter free.
All locker hinges and catches are recessed into the teak planking, where appropriate.
KEEL
High performance bulb (HPB) external lead keel.
RUDDER

STERN DESIGN

A gateway through the pushpit gives access to a built-in stairway leading down to the bathing platform when open. When closed the platform forms part of the transom external surface for a clean and uncluttered look.
There is a hydraulic passerelle that extends from the transom with a teak covered walkway and a system of stanchion handrails.
Transom flap and passerelle controls in stainless steel enclosure on starboard pushpit inboard return.
Transom steps include a central lift up section for access to dive bottle stowage and LED strip lights under each step, with twin showers, one port and one starboard in front face of step.
EURCD
Built to comply with the requirements for Category A – Ocean.
At over 24m length overall the Oyster 885 falls outside the scope of the EURCD, however the hull design and structure for this vessel have been designed using the Det Norske Veritas (DNV) – High Speed and Light Craft Rule.
