About Maxi Dolphin 75 - "by Mills Design"
This Maxi Dolphin 75-footer is from the drawing board of Mark Mills, the Irish designer behind the radically elegant Maxi 72 Allegre and the Wallycento Tango. Mills has a strong racing pedigree, but this 75 footer is a typical performance cruiser. The beamy hull shape of this Maxi Dolphin 75-footer has become slightly higher volume forwards, with twin rudders for offwind handling. Weight was kept low with a carbon corecell hull and deck construction. She also has a lifting keel, the only workable solution for balancing performance with any level of cruising practicality on this type of design. This Mills design has been set up for short-handed sailing with all controls led aft to the twin helm stations, headsails on recessed furlers, in-boom furling, and a swept spreader rig with square top main, but no backstay or runners for simplicity of handling. Between the twin rudders there is an enormous garage for toys, including a large jet tender. The interior design, by Nauta Design in Milan, is inspired by a timeless marine style with a modern twist, where light and clean lines are the leitmotiv of its décor and geometry. There is a master stateroom forward, a guest double aft, an additional twin cabin with a Pullman berth, and separate crew cabin in the aft, each with ensuite heads. Mills hat einen starken Rennsport-Stammbaum, aber dieser 75-Füßer ist ein typischer Performance-Cruiser. Die breite Rumpfform dieses 75-Fuß-Maxi-Dolphin ist nach vorne hin etwas voluminöser geworden, mit zwei Rudern für das Handling bei Gegenwind. Das Gewicht wurde durch eine Rumpf- und Deckskonstruktion aus Carbon Corecell gering gehalten. Sie hat auch einen Hubkiel, die einzige praktikable Lösung, um bei dieser Art von Konstruktion ein Gleichgewicht zwischen Leistung und Fahrtauglichkeit herzustellen. Das Design der Mills wurde für das Segeln mit nur einer Hand konzipiert. Alle Bedienelemente befinden sich achtern an den beiden Steuerständen, die Vorsegel sind an versenkten Rollreffs angebracht, und das Großsegel hat eine gepfeilte Spreize mit einem quadratischen Großsegel, aber kein Achterstag oder Kufen, um die Handhabung zu vereinfachen. Mills heeft een sterke race stamboom, maar deze 75-voeter is een typische performance cruiser. De balkachtige rompvorm van deze Maxi Dolphin 75-voeter heeft een iets groter volume naar voren, met dubbele roeren voor offwindse besturing. Het gewicht is laag gehouden met een carbon corecell romp en dek constructie. Ze heeft ook een hefkiel, de enige werkbare oplossing voor een balans tussen prestaties en enige mate van praktische cruising op dit type ontwerp. Dit Mills ontwerp is opgezet voor short-handed zeilen met alle bedieningselementen naar de twee stuurstanden achter, voorzeilen op verzonken rolgordijnen, rolfok in de giek, en een geveegde spreider tuigage met vierkante top grootzeil, maar geen achterstag of runners voor eenvoudige bediening. ACCOMODATION
The interior design of the Mills 75’ by Nauta Design is inspired by a timeless marine style with a modern twist, where light and clean lines are the leitmotiv of its décor and geometry. Thanks to the layout, all the areas have generous spaces. The very wide and only slightly inclined ladder leads to the large saloon with a dining area and table that seats 6/8 people and a large lounge sofa that can easily accommodate four people lying down. The bow section gives you access to the sleeping area, that holds up to 7 beds divided in 2 comfortable cabins, all with en-suite bathrooms and separate shower rooms. The large forward master stateroom holds a double bed and has a spacious en-suite bathroom, with double washbasins, and a separate shower cabin. The guest cabin on the left has twin beds that can be converted in a double bed if necessary and thanks to the additional Pullman bed become three. Finally, the third guest cabin is towards stern, starboard of the engine room, and has a double bed with a private bathroom. The open plan galley is aft of the saloon on the left offering a better quality on board service, and is designed in the same style. The crew cabin is through the galley and has bunk beds. The Mills 75 also has a convenient and functional garage for a 3,27 m tender
