OYSTER 575
NEW LISTING
The Oyster 575 was designed by Rob Humphreys and the Oyster Design Team to replace the Oyster 56, which had been our most popular model with 75 launched. Built on owners’ feedback, the 575 was designed and engineered as a direct replacement – a long-range, ocean-going, bluewater cruiser and live aboard, which can be easily handled by a couple.
Overall, the 575 is a little larger than the 56, with a longer waterline length, deeper keel, increased sail area, and fuel tankage. She feels like a ‘bigger’ yacht, with more headroom and a beam that is carried further aft, enhancing off-wind performance, and allowing a more spacious owner’s stateroom. The biggest upgrade, though, was reserved for the cockpit, which features twin wheels, a centreline walkway aft, and distinct working and relaxing areas which are also ideal for children or non-sailors whilst underway.
Oyster’s fifth-generation deck saloon design gives the 575 an attractive profile at sea. She is well-mannered and reassuring, comfortable in all conditions, and with a turn of speed that will keep the most demanding sailor fully engaged. The first 575 was launched in 2010 and remained in production until 2019. The 575 is a proven circumnavigator and consummate ocean cruiser and has only left the Oyster line-up recently to be replaced by the Oyster 565.
Wiki Wiki is in her second ownership. Originally specified for a circumnavigation, careful thought was given to making her as easy to handle; she a simple rig, with hydraulic push-button furling to her mainsail and genoa and electric primary and mainsheet winches. Her interior joinery is hand finished in quarter-sawn oak, which is resilient and offers a bright modern feel down below. She sleeps up to eight in four cabins, without using the saloon. She has a turn of speed too and has been very successful at Oyster regattas!
Wiki Wiki is very unusual in offering superb continuity of care; her original project manager, who oversaw her original build, later left Oyster to establish his own yacht care company and continued to look after Wiki Wiki for both her owners and is still doing so.

CONSTRUCTION
HULL NUMBER
Oyster 575/04.
HULL CONSTRUCTION
Composite construction, moulded from female tools developed by Oyster in their own custom facility.
Moulded using a combination of vinylester and polyester resin with the outer topside finish in a white special NPG gelcoat.
The laminate material comprises a combination of E-Glass, Kevlar and Carbon Fibre.
The topside laminate incorporates a high-tech, balsa-cored, E-Glass/Carbon sandwich above the waterline.
Below the waterline, the hull features a monolithic (single-skin) composite laminate, with an Aramid/Kevlar layer reinforced with a matrix of stringers and floors. Combined with BS1088 standard marine-ply structural bulkheads, this produces a robust structure with excellent strength to weight qualities and proven longevity.
Additional reinforcements are included in way of the keel recess, the keel longitudinals, mast bulkhead, P-bracket, forestay, and hull stringers.
Limber holes and/or tubes are installed at appropriate points.
Stringers, bulkhead landings and floors are formed over a non-structural, inert polyurethane foam.
HULL FINISH
‘White’ hull with cove line and double boot top lines in standard Oyster ‘blue.’
Last haul out and bottom paint in 2022. Next scheduled for April 2023.
DECK CONSTRUCTION
Moulded in GRP with balsa core.
In load bearing areas the core is replaced with plywood for additional strength, and all load-bearing fittings have backing plates or large washers.
Deck styling includes modern flowing lines providing sleek looks, inside and out.
DECK FINISH
Side decks, forward and aft decks, cockpit seats, sole and helmsman’s seats are trimmed with laid teak.
Fore and aft coachroof tops and cockpit coamings are finished in ‘white’ gelcoat, with ‘white’ non-slip deck paint applied to appropriate panels.
Hull to deck connection is achieved by the deck sitting on a return flange mounted into the hull.
The deck edge incorporates a bulwark, which facilitates relatively flat side decks whilst providing a good foothold when working the yacht in a seaway. The top of this bulwark has a clean GRP finish, giving a modern and stylish ‘rolled’ edge, enhancing the yacht’s visual appearance with a graceful sheer line.
