Apoena´s spacious interior arrangement provides very comfortable accommodations for three couples in three private staterooms.
Finished in varnished cherry with a faux teak sole and white molded headliner her interior is easily maintained.
Abundant opening ports and hatches and fixed windows in the hull sides and cabin add to the open feeling of her accommodations.
All overhead hatches are equipped with Oceanias shades and separate screen inserts while the portlights have custom cream-colored curtains.
Starting forward is the owners’ stateroom with walk around island berth and 6’7” of headroom. The bunk has an 8” thick queen sized latex mattress and custom waterproof mattress pad.
There is ample storage throughout the stateroom in two drawers below the berth, lockers to port and starboard and a tall locker with shelves aft and to port. A dressing settee is located along the port side of the cabin aft of the berth. Three overhead hatches, provide ventilation to the space while two portlights and LED reading lights and the crisp white overhead offer great light to the cabin.
The spacious salon is next aft. To starboard is a large U-shaped dinette with a fixed table. A bench on centerline provides seating for the inboard end of the table – this arrangement allows for at least eight guests around the table. There is an additional armchair with a large closet along the port side of the cabin. All seats are upholstered in timeless blue fabric. Storage is nicely configured in the salon with shelves and lockers above and outboard of the settees to port and starboard. There is additional storage space outboard of the settee seatbacks and beneath the centerline bench. Fixed ports in the hull sides and cabin provide light and a view to the outside from a seated position and headroom in this space is 6’ 7”
Aft and to port in the salon is the forward-facing navigation station. There is a large chart table with lifting top and a small fiddle. The Raymarine radar/chartplotter, sailing instrument multi display, VHF radio, battery monitor, electrical panel are close at hand. There is a chart spotlight and red night light. A curved molded navigator’s seat provides a comfortable perch whether under sail or at anchor. There is a storage bin below this navigator’s seat that houses the inverter/charger, outboard in a deep shelf and above the electrical panel. Additional storage is available in a drawer and locker below the forward end of the table.
To starboard is Apoenas´s large L-shaped galley. Wide Corian countertops with teak fiddles allow for extravagant preparations in this well-conceived space. At the forward inboard end is a deep two bin stainless sink set below the countertop. A glass splash guard divides the forward end of the sink from the settee. Below the inboard end of the counter are two drawers and a large locker. Aft below the inboard leg of the counter are a narrow locker with spice rack and bottle storage, and a large hinged trash locker beneath the sink. The top loading freezer and front loading fridge are located at the forward end of the counter along the hull side. Just aft is the two burner stove/oven with stainless crash bar. There is a locker for pots and pans beneath the stove. Aft of the stove is a large counter space with a locker with shelves below.

Hull features a relatively shallow canoe body with a bulbed fin keel and spade rudder. Her hull is constructed of solid fiberglass with a structural fiberglass hull liner.
Her deck is cored fiberglass sandwich with solid fiberglass in high load areas. The hull is finished in white gelcoat with double blue boot stripes and a blue cove stripe. She has a sugar scoop style transom with swim ladder and storage locker. A teak cap rail tops the 2”bulwark that surrounds the deck and nonskid is molded into the deck. There are six large mooring cleats mounted on this cap rail to prevent stubbing a toe while moving about the deck. There are stainless steel stanchions with double lifelines and boarding gates to port and starboard. Forward is a deep anchor locker. Her side decks are wide and easily navigated. Stainless pulpits at the mast and handrails along the cabin top provide support while working at the mast or moving about the deck. Her large cockpit is well configured for both large groups and shorthanded sailing. Teak overlay on the cockpit seats and removable teak grating on the sole creates excellent nonskid. The cockpit is fully protected by a large bimini and side panels. A doghouse also protect Apoena´s interior. The frame has stainless handrails aft, port and to starboard and canvas covers protect windows when not underway. Bench seats run aft from the forward end opposite a fixed cockpit table. Just aft, twin helm stations allow for easy movement throughout the cockpit. Electric winch is close to interior entrance. On deck storage is excellent – in addition to the large anchor locker forward, there is a massive lazarette locker beneath the starboard cockpit seat, a shallow line locker below the port seats and a locker beneath the aft helm seats.
