ELAN 362 - Built in 1999 and fitted with a Yanmar 3GM30F 29hp inboard deisel. This wheel steering Fin keel cruiser racer is well equiped and benifits from the well sought after Owners Version Layout.
The Elan 362 is a fast and powerful 6 berth performance cruiser. Designed by Rob Humphreys, known for his performance designs and for Oyster and the Volvo Ocean Race 70 yachts. The Elan 362 is the sought after 'Owners' version of the Elan 36. It has a two, rather than the three cabin layout, making the accommodation more indulgent of space with an L-shaped galley, a large comfortable chart/navigation station with berths on both sides of the main saloon and a generous aft cabin. The heads/shower is in the starboard aft quarter and is again very spacious and practical, and includes a super wet locker area connected by hot air trunking directly to the diesel heater. There is up to 6’3” headroom in most places. Cavernous cockpit locker on the starboard side.
Originally spec'd for club racing and fast cruising in and around the Clyde, Scotland, this example has only had four ownerships - the latter two using the boat for short-handed cruising.
'Be Traist' also benefits from a recent (winter 2017/18) replacement set of high spec. working sails, replacement folding propeller, engine mounts and 'Cutless' bearing, all recent canvas work, including sprayhood and a full cockpit canopy.
New Autopilot 2023, rokna Anchor and 2nd chain and warp. Lying ashore Bangor

Accommodation
Sleeps 5/6 in 2 double and 1 + 1 single berths in 2 cabins
This Elan 362 is the more appealing 'Owners' version of the Elan 36. It has a two rather, than three cabin layout giving the boat a more indulgent accommodation plan featuring an L-shaped galley; a large comfortable chart/navigation station with mid-ship sleeping berths on both sides of the main saloon and a generous aft cabin. The heads/shower is in the starboard aft quarter and is again very spacious and practical while subtly and inoffensively located, rather being a 'great cupboard' imposed upon the the saloon area in common with many boats of this size. It also has a super wet locker directly serviced by a warm air duct from the diesel heater. There is up to 6’3” headroom over much of the accommodation plan.

Manufacturer Provided Description
Designed by top international yacht designer Rob Humphreys, the Elan 362 succeeds in combining modern technology and expertise with a respect for tradition, elegance, and stylish good looks. When a designer of this calibre joins forces with a shipyard with more than 30 years of boat building experience, the results are bound to be impressive. Elan and Humphreys Design created an elegant and spacious 36-foot cruiser with attractive performance qualities.
Stylish lines conceal a technical structure more than capable of dealing with the forces that will come her way, so that owners can feel safe, and sail fast and comfortably in any kind of weather. The deck layout reflects the many years of designing, building, and sailing experience that were put together to conceive this boat. The clean deck features the very best deck hardware available, while the ergonomically designed cockpit guarantees comfort for both the crew and the skipper. The helmsman's seat cants forward to create easy boarding through an open transom as well as a raised platform for easier visibility.
Overall, the 362 is a well-proportioned boat with a good-sized, comfortable cockpit and plenty of easily worked deck space. The 362 has a large, deep cockpit locker to starboard which will easily swallow spare sails, fenders, dinghy, outboard and have room for more. Down below, the 362 is just as thoughtfully designed and well-laid out. It is considered to be a good size to sail shorthanded - such as the regular husband and wife crew - and yet is big enough to easily swallow a family or another two couples. The 362 is an updated version of the 36 and is more of an owner's model, using a three-cabin layout. Because of the high popularity of its derivative, with a traditional interior layout and an L-shaped galley, the term 362 came in use for the two-cabin version. High-quality joinery, flowing lines, and beautiful finish shine through in every detail.
History and Construction
Built by Elan Marine in late 1999 in Slovenia to a design by Rob Humphreys, commissioned in May 2000
Hull#: SL-ELA 360671999
SSR#: 143305
The designer Rob Humphreys describes the boat as follows:
'It is a good size to sail short-handed, by a couple for example, and yet is big enough to accommodate a family or up to six with ease.......
........the 362 is a well proportioned boat with a comfortable cockpit and plenty of easily worked deck space. She has a deep cockpit locker to starboard which will easily take the staysail, fenders, dinghy, outboard and have room for more.
The 362 is an updated version of the 36 and more of an owner’s model with a traditional interior layout and an L-shaped galley.'
The current owners are only the Fith ownership - with the third ownership having only been of 15 months prior to their purchase.
In recent years, 'Be Traist' (Be Faithful' in Scottish Gaelic) has primarily been used for light cruising, east and west along the West Country's south coast and occasional cruises to the Channel Islands. The vessel has been marina-based here in Sutton Harbour, Plymouth with annual lift-outs for cleaning/polishing and underwater maintenance always professionally carried out in Queen Anne's Battery marina next door. This year under the current owner she spent the sailing season in Ireland
There is a 2022 rig survey carried out by Allspars of Plymouth and also a full survey from March 2022. Also there is a Crewsaver Inflatable New 2022 with a Mariner 4 stroke outboard available by separate negotiation.
