History of the Heard Gaff Cutter
These elegant GRP Gaff Cutters were originally built for oyster dredging in the late 1960s and continue to follow a century of tradition. They have enjoyed a successful working life under sail alongside their wooden counterparts during the winter months, although in recent years there has been a decline in oyster dredging, there are a handful of these 23 boats still dredging trying to keep tradition alive. The summer racing has reached new heights, equally matched GRP and wooden boats new and old, race for a full calender of trophies.
Growing demand to combine tradition with the present has lead to these safe and seaworthy hulls being adapted for cruising, offering the ultimate in family comfort and enjoyment.
