Resulting from Costaguta's design experience after the successes of the world-famous 8M Italia, MiRANDA III differs from it by taking certain features to extremes to improve performance in light winds. The result is a beautiful boat, much longer and narrower than the contemporary 8Ms.
Launched shortly before the start of World War II, MIRANDA III will remain a rather unknown boat on international race courses.
In Naples in the 1970s she was used as a cruising yacht, and her lines were distorted by an extension towards the stern of the elegant deck.
MIRANDA III finished her major restoration in 2000 and has been perfectly maintained ever since. Completely restored by one of the world's most prestigious shipyards in the restoration of important vintage boats, Miranda is one of the most interesting 8 in the international fleet, and having frequented the championships and race courses little, her appearance in racing trim could be a real surprise. Not for nothing is she an almost twin sister (on the plans, theoretically improved) of Italia, the 8 M that won the Olympics in 1936. Italia has sail number I-20, MIRANDA III I-21.
