    The Swan 38 is Sparkman & Stephens designed as a classic cruiser-racer in the former IOR one-ton cup. Priority in the design has been given to sea-worthiness and seakindness. The Swan 38 lacks the room, accomodation and luxury which later and nowadays designs offer. But therfore she gives the beauty, stance and atmosphere of classic sailing in abundance. This Swan 38, Shangri-La, has a modified underwatership with professionally deepened throat to 2.40 mtr with additional 400 kg lead and deeper rudder, which gives her extraordinary improved sailing performance and the sailing composure of a larger class sailing yacht. Shangri-La is equipped with electric Bamar forestay, electric Leisurefurl boom and electric Lewmar winches in the cockpit - of which 2 x 64 ST headsail - for sail handling. Which is utterly suitable for easy-going and single handed sailing. The Leisurefurl boom will come with a new marine blue mainsail cover. After an extensive peeling of the gelcoat and laminate of the complete underwatership and afterwards drying during two years, now in 2019 during 3 months the underwatership was subject to applying numerous layers of laminate, crossed-woven fibers and epoxy, with a far superiour quality result compared to standard when Shangri-La was in 1979 manufactured and delivered. In this respect also severe imperfections in the original laminate are now completely solved with the sophisticated materials now applied. The costs of this actual osmosis treatment exceeds 20.000 euro. Autohelm linear drive with Raymarine Evolution Sail 200 and new Raymarine ST6001 Smart pilot display. Last winter more than 200 wooden caps of the teak deck were renewed. The mast-step of the mast is completely rustfree and also the throat bolts are rustfree and still encapsuled and sealed by the original shield of inner laminate of the hull. Shangri-La has never been raced and the sails are mildly used. Shangri-La is sound and solid. Strong point is the wooden interiour which is still light and bright shining as it was new, although it an use some TLC with some new layers of lacquer at some place. Shangri-La comes with the original boom and can be reversed to original with the more performance orientated North mainsail. Second owner with history completely documentated.
