MEDIA, Test fishing HK 83 'Zuiderzee
06-09-2019
LAUWERSOOG - In December, the HK 83 of fishing company Foppen went on shore. Last week Klaas Bouma was able to test fish with it.
This has become a sustainable sternwheeler for the Wadden and IJsselmeer,'' says Klaas Bouma on behalf of the Harderwijk-based fishing company.
Bouma points out the four solar panels on the roof of the wheelhouse and the boiler that is heated with the exhaust temperature of the generator set.
Thanks to the solar panels, shore power is unnecessary during the weekend.
The HK 83 is not only equipped for the Wadden Sea shrimp fishery, but will also fish eel as a trap fisherman on the IJsselmeer during the summer season.
Therefore, the completely new shrimp processing line was built by De Boer RVS on a single frame, so that it can be easily hoisted off and on board.
An unloading crane was installed on deck.
With a view to inland fishing, the HK 83 has been fitted with a strut pole.
And for maneuverability the cutter was equipped with a second bow thruster, while a stern thruster was also added. Bouma: "It can go straight through the water if necessary.
The almost 18 meter long HK 83 (built in 2001 as LO 9 'Aaltje', then GM 6 for five years and taken over by Foppen last year) was parked at NG Shipyards at the end of last year.
Initially with the intention of renewing the bulwark and extending the bridge forward.
It became a complete renewal under the direction of Bouma.
With a new aluminum wheelhouse with Hora windows, new electrical (Durk de Jong), hydraulics (Couperus), CO2 cooling (Polar) and new bridge equipment (Alphatron).
Not only the HK 83 is a combination vessel.
The 10-meter long raft HK 84 'Vischpoort' was primarily purchased for inland fishing, but is now also prepared for shrimp fishing by Klaas Bouma.
Compact shrimp processing equipment, also made by De Boer RVS, will be installed on board for this purpose.
Jan Foppen and Klaas Bouma are certainly not sitting still.
The script for the construction of a new shrimp cutter HK 85 under their own management is ready.
