    Lemsteraak 'Strandloper' is in many ways an exceptional ship, which is very well cared for by the current owner. For example, the underwater hull was professionally sandblasted and fitted with a new epoxy system in 2019, and in that year the rudder was completely bare and provided with six new coats of paint. Engine and sails as well as navigation are of recent date, making them fully ready to sail in our sales harbour waiting for a new owner!

    The design of the 'Strandloper' is derived from the famous designer De Boer (of a.o. 'De Groene Draeck'). Van Rijnsoever also made use of design agency Hoek Design in order to be able to build an optimal ship. Characteristic is the lack of trusses because a thick base plate was used, which gives her a lot of headroom (1.90 cm) stiffness and stability. The owners describe her as a handy sailing ship that can even be sailed single-handed. As a sailing area they have sailed in the Dutch coastal waters, Wadden and Zeeland waters and gained a wealth of experience, which they would like to share with a new owner.

    The Volvo Penta D2 engine with three-bladed screech, newly installed in 2012, provides more than enough power to move the ship forward under all conditions. By installing three (separate) 120 Ah batteries, the total battery capacity is more than sufficient to have power on board for a longer period of time without having to carry power ashore. The starter battery is separated from the starter battery by means of a relay, so that it can be started at all times.

    Under sail number VB170 the 'Strandloper' participated in several races. It is worth mentioning that she was the winner of the annual Delta Week.
    The current sail wardrobe consisting of mainsail, jib, jib, half wind and water sail is recent (2015) and will last for quite some time. The ship is easy to trim because the sword can be moved forward and backward. There is a very low rudder pressure, which is very comfortable sailing and increases the speed!
