Remarks:
The Hophead is a beautiful, classic longboat. The longboat was originally a sloop. It was the largest on board, and often there was only one of that size. Large, square-rigged ships, such as liners, usually had four sloops, the largest of which was called the Barkas. Because the Barkas was the largest sloop, it was specifically used to transport to and from shore large and heavy equipment, such as guns, water and beer barrels. So the name Hophead is quite appropriate.
This Barkas has been well maintained. The maintenance, on the rather special engine was done in 2021. The antifouling dates from 2018. The boat is spacious and wheelchair friendly.
