General

  • Remarks: 1992 - 2008 complete refit (rebuilt) to current status, boat is always lying in water shed, complete documentation + refit invoices are present , in very good condition, moored boathouse, boating is a true classic, which is in very good condition. Bromo in 1932 is designed by Ir. J. Loeff - co-founder of the Waterkampioen - built by G. de Vries Lentsch, Amsterdam, commissioned by Mr C. Bos, who first have had a wooden kofferbakdekkruiser and now aspire the same type of steel. Mr. Bos has his ship in all probability Bromo named after the volcano in Java which his uncle John, who worked for Billiton in the tin mines in Singkep, he let little Cor listen with his red cheeks to the stories about the goddess living in the volcano, which remains quiescent when he get thrown small children in the volcano. In World Yachting and Motor Boating Journal November 25, 1932 edition Bromo has been described as "an attractive steel 42-footer." The ship had no cabin but at that time called cockpit could be closed entirely by sail and where the windows were protected by wooden shutter when there was very bad weather In 1932 there was a small factory in Potsdam Selve , they built an engine that was replaced in 1953 by a four cylinder engine Kromhout, 108GSK-50hp. This Kromhout - for any manufacturer, the grandfather of the present owner in 1906 as a mechanic in the then Dutch East Indies was - was still present in the vessel in 1992, but proved no more reliable so that there is a Caterpillar 3340 NA is built. In 1953 the ship from the Netherlands on May 16 left for a trip to London where the owner wanted to attend by the Coronation Celebrations of Queen Elizabeth II. About this tour is the Waterkampioen wrote an article written by one of the passengers. It was reported that, as in the jubilee year of the Queen in 2012, and under the same weather conditions, the festivals were celebrated with the imitation of the battle between the Armada and Sir Francis Drake, which events the then owner full of verve participated. In this period of Bromo in England, the present owner was born in June 1953. In 1992 Bromo stripped down to her ribs, in the subsequent years in Walsoorden (Zeeland) with new skin, aan den IJssel completely sandblasted and then put in a two-component paint system, whose base thickness was 640mu. The Caterpillar engine is built in by specialists in Papendrecht. The engine room is fully equipped with tear sheets and excellent isolation. In Papendrecht there were also made preparations for all electricity for the unit, the inverter control and modern equipment such as radar, plotter, GPS, water heater and kitchen appliances such as fridge and stove. The 10kVA generator of Lombardini also provides ample capacity for any place washer and / or microwave. The woodwork was carried out at a furniture level by skilled shipwrights in Hardinxveld-Giessendam. The result shows that it is customized. The high finish of rich mahogany and ebony details, the dovetail joints and the paintwork give the appearance of similar vessels from the thirties of the last century. The toilet - a Baby Blake - is placed in a separate laundry room and in the tip of the ship is a separate shower room. Of course, the ship is provided with a holding tank. The entire ship has a floor of 200 year old oak which is laid in a parquet pattern and which - of course - the screws are concealed with wood plugs. Behind the captain's cabin, with a roomy bed with two separate mattresses and a lot of storage space. The couch in the bow can be arranged at will to a double berth. On deck stands the magnificent teak deck in order and ship lines are finished with a special detail. The cuckoo and the hatch on the bow are tailor-made for example of the ships of the time. The electricity required for the radar is ingeniously concealed in the railing on the roof of the wheelhouse. When the Bromo is going by with a waving flag at the stern it can not go unnoticed that it was built with great care. There is an article devoted to The Bromo in watersports magazine De Waterkampioen. On request we will send you this article. If interested we invite you for a visit. For questions and / or to make an appointment, you are most welcome 7 days a week at Elburg Yachting.
