    Lemsteraak 'Migratory bird' V8

The famous 'Lemsteraakjacht' Migratory bird is in a sense the 'mother of all Lemsteraken'. The roefaak designed by H. de Boer was a model for the development of the Lemsteraak as an exclusive sailing and racing ship. In 1913 the ship was launched at Gebr. De Boer in Lemmer. With a length of 17.50 m. and a mast height of 23 m. the ship is a very special appearance. In 1998 Van Oossanen optimised the ship and improved the rigging plan and the underwater hull. Because of the success on the racetracks, the design of the Migratory Bird was taken as a starting point for the also known (competition) barges IJsvogel, Maasvogel and Wadvogel, each with a length of 16.65 m.

On board of the Migratory Bird one does not get tired. Many call the ship 'the most beautiful ever built' and the finishing and detailing is unsurpassed. With the rich history of the ship and its importance for the development of the Lemsteraak as we know it today, the Migratory Bird is a great asset.

The largest renewals of the ship took place in 1986 at Stofberg, the change to the sailing plan and underwater hull in 1998 and the renewal of trusses below the waterline in the period 2003-2005. Since then, the ship has been professionally maintained. The Migratory Bird is in top condition.

This very spacious roefaak still has the original, teak interior that Stofberg after renovation of the hull is completely replaced. The layout is classic, with a spacious saloon with galley and several cabins with a total of 13 fixed berths. Of course, the ship is fully equipped and equipped with all necessary equipment.

The Migratory Bird Pilot is a valuable private property, but is also suitable for a co-ownership program and business exploitation. We will be happy to advise you about the possibilities and look in detail at the possibilities to keep this special ship sailing.
