General

  • Remarks:

The Falcon 44 is a fast one off cruiser/racer, built in modern materials by the owner in cooperation with Satellite yacht design, where Satellite took care of the design, which resulted in a fast, safe and stiff ship that can take a beating. The fixed and lockable sprayhood with two seats offers a comfortable shelter in less good weather. With the hydraulically retractable keel the draught of 2.50m can be reduced to 1.50m, so that even that beautiful shallow spot is accessible. The ship has a safe deep cockpit and number of lockable compartments. The builder/owner has sailed many miles with the ship in the area from Iceland to Tierra del Fuego.

The open interior has been kept simple and furnished for two to a maximum of 4 people. The layout is designed to properly support the functions of the boat: Directly at the entrance there are two higher berths for good contact with the watch and a good view to the outside. Behind them to starboard are the navigation corner and the toilet. On the port side is the spacious galley with all amenities. Further forward is the cabin with table, two longitudinal benches and a comfortable stove. In the tip a double bed has been created as a sleeping place in the harbour.

The starting points when designing the rig plan are easy operation and high effectiveness. The basic configuration is a mainsail and a high aspect jib. Often also the code zero is used which is permanently on a roll for the jib. A second trade jib can be hoisted at the high aspect and possibly a gennaker can be sailed on the stern or on an extendable bowsprit, however this sail is less suitable for short hand sailing. A storm headsail can be hoisted on the cutterstay. The long waterline with its sturdy sails and light construction ensures high daily averages of up to 200 mines per day.

Comment broker: A beautifully lined, robust no-nonsense boat with special sailing characteristics. The interior needs some attention after 10 years of intensive use.
